Carbon Neutral Travel
Traveling Carbon Neutral through Green Lodge is a simple 3-step process:
Step 1: Become a Green Lodge Member for Free and you have the option to book your hotel, flight and car rental through greenlodge.org. Green Lodge purchases unlimited carbon offsets for member's who book hotels through our site. Add on a flight and/or car rental and Green Lodge will also purchase offsets for the associated carbon emissions significantly reducing the carbon footprint of your trip.
Step 2: Green Lodge receives an email confirmation of your hotel reservation, flight and/or car rental from our affiliate network and calculates the total expected carbon emissions using these standards:
Hotel: 44 lbs per room night
Flight: 40 lbs per 100 miles flown
Car: 46 lbs per day based on an average of 70 miles per day
We produce a total estimated carbon footprint for each member's travel and email them to confirm their upcoming travel footprint.
Step 3: At the end of each month, Green Lodge purchases carbon credits on behalf of its membership in the amount equal to our members' carbon footprint. At that time, members receive an e-certificate confirming the purchase of Verified Emissions Reductions (VER) in the amount equal to the carbon emissions generated.
